공정무역 생산자 조합의 힘, CAYAT조합 사무총장 인터뷰
국제공정무역기구는 코트디부아르의 공정무역 인증 코코아 협동조합 CAYAT의 사무총장과 인터뷰를 진행했다. CAYAT 조합은 코코아, 커피의 판매 촉진과 생산자와 가족들의 복지 증진을 위해 2010년 283명의 창립회원과 설립한 이래 빠르게 성장해 현재 조합원은 3000명 이상이다. 인터뷰를 통해 CAYAT 사무총장인 Awa Bamba는 협동조합이 어떻게 정보를 제공하고 참여하면서 조합을 빠르게 성장시킬 수 있었는지 설명한다. 더불어 공정무역 프리미엄(추가 장려금) 사용처의 우선순위를 정하는 것과 협동조합이 당면한 어려움에 대해서도 언급했다.
Fairtrade interviewed Director General of CAYAT
Fairtrade certified cocoa cooperative CAYAT is based in Côte d’Ivoire. Established in 2010 by 283 founding members, its objective is to facilitate the collection and sale of cocoa and coffee and contribute to the welfare of the farmers and their families. It has expanded quickly and now has a membership of over 3000 farmers.
Mrs. Awa Bamba, Director General of CAYAT, explains how the cooperative has been able to grow its membership base so fast while keeping it informed and engaged. She also talks about their priorities for investing the Fairtrade Premium and the challenges faced by the cooperative.

프랑스학교 학생들과 공정무역 클래스
국내 프랑스 학교 학생들이 공정무역 클래스에 참가하기 위해서 국제공정무역기구 한국사무소를 찾았다. 공정무역 비디오와 공정무역 수업을 들으며 공정무역의 시스템에 대해 배웠고, 한국사무소 내 전시된 300여 가지 공정무역 인증제품을 둘러봤다. 학생들은 공정무역이 추구하는 비전과 가치, 정당한 대가를 지불하고 생산자들의 지속가능한 삶을 지원하는 제품이라는 점에서 큰 관심을 보였다. 교내외 행사에서 공정무역 인증제품을 활용한 이벤트를 진행할 계획이며 수업시간을 통해 더 자세히 공정무역에 대해 배울 예정이다.
Students participated in the Fairtrade class
Twenty students from French school in Korea visited Fairtrade Korea to participate in the Fairtrade class. They learned about the definition and system of Fairtrade by watching Fairtrade video and discussing with teachers. After that, students looked around about 300 Fairtrade certified products displayed in the office. They are 10-year-old students, but showed great interest in Fairtrade products which supports the sustainable life of producers in developing countries.

Best Western Premier Seoul Garden Hotel offers Fairtrade certified Dutch coffee
Best Western Premier Seoul Garden Hotel in Dohwa-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul has started offering Fairtrade certified Dutch coffee. The Seoul Garden Hotel is designated to Premeir Hotel, which is the highest grade of Best Western International, and provides world-class services and best products. As part of Best Western's Corporate Social Responsibility activities, they have selected Fairtrade certified products for customers and will add more various products in near future. The Best Western Premier Seoul Garden Hotel opened in August 1979 and has 372 rooms.

스리랑카 농부를 지키는 공정무역 바나나, 파인애플 출시
스리랑카에서 정직하고 건강하게 키운 공정무역 바나나와 파인애플을 출시됐다. 공정무역 라이센시 자격을 가진 어스맨에서 출시한 이번 스리랑카의 건과일은 특히 가족단위로 농사짓는 소규모 농부들과 거래한다. 소농들은 가격협상력이 없어 빈번하게 부당함을 당해야했지만 공정무역을 통해 공정한 대가를 받고 더 나은 삶을 꿈꿀 수 있게 된다. 거래대금 외에 별도로 지급되는 공정무역 프리미엄(추가 장려금)은 묘목, 유기비료, 농기구 구입 등에 사용돼 생산 공동체의 장기적 발전을 돕는 데 쓰이고 있다. 공정무역 바나나, 파인애플은 남녀노소 누구나 안심하고 맛있게 즐길 수 있다.
Fairtrade certified dried fruits launched
Fairtrade certified dried Banana and Pineapple from Sri Lanka were just launched. Earthman, a Fairtrade licensee, deals specifically with small-scale farmers for these products. Small-scale farmers have no power to negotiate and treated unfairly, but through Fairtrade, they can earn a fair price to their harvest and make a plan for their own future. Fairtrade Premiums – the little extra on top of the Fairtrade Minimum Price – are used for seedling, organic fertilizer, purchase of farm equipment to help the whole community.
